Awards-a-go-go

The awards frenzy continues unabated:

The International Press Academy (Satellite Awards), the Dallas/Fortworth Critics Association and the Southeastern Film Critics Association all picked No Country for Old Men as the best film of the year.

Thanks once more to eagle-eye Alison for bringing all this to my attention. For the record, the Southeastern Film Critics’ homepage isn’t yet updated with their 2007 selections, but you can see their full slate of winners on the IMDB discussion boards.

  1. Eagle-eye. I like that.

Does anyone know what the story is with the Awards Daily site? It looks like it’s up again, but it won’t let me comment.

  2. You have to register with moveable type to comment, but for some reason it’s not sending out the confirmation email you have to reply to to log in.

Sartre figured out a way around it and Ryan let me in through the back door.

  3. Okay. I’ve actually emailed Ryan, so hopefully he’ll help out.

Sartre, if you’re around, can you tell me what you did?

    Thanks! :-)

  4. More awards for No Country. Phoenix Film Critics Society has posted:

They included 3:10 to Yuma and Zodiac in their top 10!

  5. Thank you Alison. You’re wired. If you started your own blog, you’d be giving Sasha a run for her money.

  6. Nah, I wouldn’t do that. I don’t have Sasha’s experience and expertise. And there are enough blogs. The market doesn’t need to be any more glutted than it is.

I’m just very anxious to see the results of all these awards. The films that are getting the accolades are so deserving. Unfortunately there are plenty of others that have been overlooked, which makes me sad.

I’ll be biting my nails come time to announce the Oscar nominees.

  7. “there are enough blogs.” Believe it or not, I said the same thing myself right before starting this one…

Still, you’re right. I don’t think anyone could do what Sasha does as well as she does it.

  8. Yeah, there are way too many blogs. What am I even doing here?

  9. It’s just more of a challenge to try and hold your attention! Hopefully it will only make me better.

  10. Well, I like this blog. I’m staying.

  11. Good, the place has been better since you showed up.

  12. Aw, thanks. :-)

  13. Yeah Alison, this was seedy bar with a broken neon light sign outside before you walked in and classed up the joint.

  14. And proprietor Kennedy kept a shot gun and a baseball bat behind the bar, and sold watered down hard liquor.

  15. Thanks, sartre. :-)

What a profound description. Though somehow I can’t imagine Craig with a shotgun. Especially after he confessed to never really having an edge.

  16. Damnit, my cover is blown. I never should’ve admitted that!

  17. Yeah, and it doesn’t help that I remember everything that I read or hear. ;-)

  18. You and Sartre both. I can’t get anything past you guys.
