Living in Cinema 2007 Readers Top 10
You’ve seen what the so-called experts have had to say and now it’s your turn. Presenting the first annual Living in Cinema Readers Top 10. Beginning tonight, I’ll be accepting readers’ submissions for the best movies of 2007. The poll will remain open for at least 2 weeks and probably more. I want to give as many people as much time as possible to catch the best movies of the year and I’ll set a firm date later on down the road.
Simply email your ranked Top 10 (or choose fewer if you want) to:
topten@livingincinema.com
I’ll notify you that your list has been received, but you’re not signing up for spam or anything. On the other hand, if you’re interested in cheap Viagra, I might know some people.
Each number one pick will be awarded 10 points, number two will be awarded 9 points and so on. Feel free to have 2 or movies tied for the same slot, but remember you can still only pick 10 movies. If you’re one of those weirdoes who doesn’t want to put your list in order, each of your picks will be awarded the same number of points using a formula based on the total number of movies you pick. For a 10 title list, this works out to 5.5 points for each movie. If you demand an explanation for this (which is just the kind of thing weirdoes who don’t like to order their lists might do), email me and one of our team of crack scientists will explain.
I’m aware that not all movies have been released all over the world and that some movies released in some places in 2006 were released in others in 2007. My suggestion is you vote for whatever movies were released in your area in the calendar year. I may try to make a special tally of late and early limited releases. For movies that have received a limited release in the US in 2007 but won’t open in the rest of the country until January 2008, feel free to consider them for your 2007 list if you see them before the poll closes.
Have I confused you enough? Sorry, it’s in my nature to make things more complicated than they need to be. Use the comments section for questions and I’ll try to answer as quickly as I can. Remember to email me your submissions to the above address or you won’t be counted. Only one list per email address will be accepted.
I’ll post the Living in Cinema Readers Top 10 after the poll has closed and the votes have been tallied.
Comments for this post are closed. Click here if you’d like to make your list public or to comment on the lists of others.

My computer blipped and my email got sent two times. Ignore the 2nd one. :-)
No worries. Our crack team of scientists is expert filtering out accidental emails.
Keep track of your list because I’ll probably be making a page for people to post their picks if they want. This way you can include honorable mentions, your bottom 10, whatever you want. Also, people will have the chance to make fun of you which is always good for the ol’ self esteem.
I’ve only got five films to go before making a final vote -I’m Not There, The Savages, Away from Her, Rataouille, and La Vie En Rose. Three of these are on DVD. But so far my top ten are ->
TWbB
Jesse James
No Country
Lust, Caution
Once
Diving Bell and Butterfly
Atonement
Eastern Promises
Into the Wild
American Gangster
Hey Alison, post your’s here to.
Post your lists here.
I’ll make a link for people to find it.
If we post now, can we subsequently update it?
Yeah, give us some breathing room on this one because even though TWBB technically had a midnight sneak peak here last night, I won’t be seeing it for two weeks and there’s a couple others I need to squeeze in to make the process somewhat more realistic even though honestly, my Netflix queue is filled with possible contenders that I didn’t get to in time.
Ah, the joy of list. Curiously enough, I saw one that will likely make my short list just last night. But telling would be giving it all away…
Yes, your list won’t be counted until you email it to me and you can always make changes until the poll closes in a few weeks. And don’t worry, 2 weeks is a minimum for the deadline. 3 or possibly 4 is more likely.
“Curiously enough, I saw one that will likely make my short list just last night. But telling would be giving it all away…”
Bastard.
I’m still waiting to watch Rescue Dawn and Atonement, and possibly Away From Her & Juno if I can get my hands on them, but don’t worry, I’m in!
Take your time Hedwig, I want everyone to be able to play along.
Still working on it, need to see a couple of more things, but here’s the rough draft:
1. There Will Be Blood
2. No Country for Old Men
3. I’m Not There
4. Zodiac
5. Lust, Caution
6. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
7. Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead
8. The Host
9. Away From Her
10. Black Snake Moan
Love your fine TWbB review Chuck!
Thanks!
