The 2008 Bloggies: For Your Consideration
In 4th grade, I ran for school treasurer. I made speeches. I made posters. At the time, I was even pretty sure I invented the spelling of ’trea$urer’ with a dollar sign for the S. Turns out I was pretty sure of a lot of other things in 4th grade that weren’t true either; the grossness of girls and the existence of Bigfoot spring to mind.
Anyway, I lost big time to the 6th grader. I don’t remember his name, but I like to imagine he’s spending his adult life living in a van down by the river.
I bring all this up to let you know that you now have the chance to right egregious historical wrongs by voting for Living in Cinema for the Eighth Annual Weblog Awards: The 2008 Bloggies.
At Living in Cinema, we harbor no illusions about being Weblog of the Year or even Best Entertainment Weblog, but if you enjoy your time here, give some thought to Best New Weblog or Best-Kept Secret Weblog. Unfortunately, there is no category for Best Weblog that Rhymes with ‘Shmiving in Shminema’ because I might’ve had a real shot at that one.
Cast your votes for Living in Cinema (http://livingincinema.com) and/or your other favorite weblogs before Friday, January 11!
NOTE: When you vote, you will receive in email confirmation with a link you must click in order to validate your ballot. Also, in order for your vote to count, you have to vote for at least 3 different weblogs overall. They don’t have to be in the same category. You could vote for one weblog in one category, then two others in different categories. If you don’t read any other blogs, I refer you to the Blogroll to your right. Here you’ll find a number of terrific blogs that have all received the coveted Living in Cinema Stamp of Approval.

Votes cast. I was feeling lazy and uninspired, so I put ya down in most of the categories. If you get a surprise nomination for Best Irish Blog or something, I want flowers.
Thanks JB! There will be flowers and I will thank you in my tearful awards speech.
Just make sure you don’t end up in the bathroom when they announce you’re the winner of Best GLBT Weblog. That would be embarrassing.
In your acceptance speech try to avoid thanking your parents for conceiving you.
Heh heh…the fact I had to look up GLBT tells me I’m probably the longest of shots for that category.
In such an occurrence Sartre, not knowing when I might ever get to make another speech, I’d be milking it for all I was worth.
I voted and hit the submit button. Should I receive an email to finalize my vote? Because I didn’t, and I’m so worried my carefully considered vote didn’t go through. I’m not being facetious.
Hi T., thanks for voting. Yes you should get an email confirmation.
If not T, then vote again. It is the internet after all. If they count your vote twice, so be it.
I got my ballot in, and I checked to vote! It says: “Your ballot has been verified. Check back on Tuesday, January 22 to vote for the winners!” This is very exciting; good luck cj (newbie), christian (secret), sasha (best), and jeffrey (lifetimer).
Thanks, T!
Voted for Living In Cinema in 4 categoires I think, hope you win CJ, it would be deserved. Did I see a best weblog by a teen? Just throwing my own FYC campaign out there…
Thanks Nick, you’ve got my vote.
Finally, an election that means something.
I’ll definitely vote, Craig. Thanks.
Having you read and comment is enough Alexander, but your vote means a lot to me. Thanks!
