Dear Readers
There have been a few quiet changes around Living in Cinema lately. For starters, I hit my unannounced goal of posting something new every day for the month of January. I actually ended up posting multiple items most days and I really enjoyed the regularity and consistency. I regret that the frequency of the longer posts has dipped, however. Those of you who have been here since the beginning may remember when the posts were fewer but deeper.
It’s true, January was an awful month for new releases and my output might have dropped even without the focus on the shorter items, but my goal now is to get back to having 3 or 4 long posts a week while continuing to fill in the gaps with daily tidbits.
A bigger and more important change has been a steady rise in activity in the comments section. Joel and Chuck probably remember the days when they were the comments section, but things started to pick up in the Fall and have steadily increased ever since. I’m thrilled that so many intelligent, thoughtful and polite people have been making a habit of turning up here to talk about these movies that we all love. I have you to thank for helping me make this place into the thing I’ve always wanted it to be which is a positive environment for people to come and express their enthusiasm and passion for great movies. I like to tell myself I’d be doing this whether you were here or not, but without you I’d just be talking to myself. So, thank you.
Thanks also to those of you who stop by but don’t feel the need to announce yourself. My hit counts tell me you’re out there, but I have no idea who you are or how many of you there are or whether or not you come back. That’s ok, I’m just glad you’re there… well, except for the guy (or girl) who keeps searching for “Kicked in balls video” and you somehow find Living in Cinema. Put aside your keyboard and consider some kind of therapy. Seriously.
Enough with the blabbing. Back to the movies.

We love you too, Craig!!!!!
Now that Serena has cast her vote I feel comfortable in saying, “You’re the man, Craig.” You’re the proverbial founder of our feast. Your website is a total package of reviews, news and truths.
I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us in February and beyond!
I second Serena. We love you, Craig! :-)
Best. Readers. Ever.
Okay, you’ve shamed me into commenting – but only because I understand and share your sense of “who’s out there” when the traffic stats say one thing but the comments manager says another. I’ve solicited comments in every damn way I can think of, and the only time I get more comments instead of less is when I write something that people feel compelled to comment on.
Simple, right?
Anyway. Keep up the fine work!
Nice, Craig. I only found you about a month or so ago, and am continually impressed by your posts and your readership. I can’t keep up on the comments as much as your most loyal group – but even if I did, I can’t match the breadth or length (Serena – hehe), so I’ll just enjoy reading them until I have something meaningless to say to break it up.
Keep it up – I check LiC daily!
Congrats on the regular posting frequency, it’s something I still have a hard time achieving. And even more importantly: congrats on making those frequent posts consistently interesting. And, of course, on generating so much discussion: I always read the comments here as well as the posts, which is something I can no longer say of, say, Hollywood Elsewhere.
Ditto with “you’re the man” sentiment. A blog that runs light on gossip and celebrity-venom, but high on substance and actual film content is hard to come by. Keep fighting the good fight.
Thank you guys. Just to be clear, I love everyone that shows up at all, whether they comment or not. If you’re out there and you’re reading this, your silence is welcome and I hope you keep coming back.
It’s hard to keep up with so many blogs, let alone comment on them, and I haven’t done a consistently good job of that myself, but I’m making an extra effort to make a habit of it, especially those of you on my blog roll. Consider yourself warned.
Keep up the good work, you know where I’m coming from.

craig…..maybe the kicked in the balls guy will finally post on your page.that would be the coolest day…ever !!!!
Maybe he has Glimmer…maybe he has…
glimmer — that link is really a kick in the balls.
I once produced an actors showcase called “Love, Lust and Laughter” — and a group of Japanese businessmen showed up, looking for you-know-what. But they liked the show anyway even if it taxed their English-language skills more than they’d anticipated. My point: Get it where you can.
My pleasure, Craig. It feels great to talk seriously about film — and goof off too — in a comfortable environment with commenters whose adrenalin levels are manageable. I’m glad to see short posts mixed in with the longer ones; it stimulates energy, interest and participation and, I hope, makes it easier for you to create your longer, more thoughtful pieces.
Where’s the wet bar?
pierre, i’m sure the wet bar is a good place to get kicked in the balls. ;)
or maybe the wet bar is a good place to find love, lust and laughter. ;)
Maybe you should subtitle the site “Living in Cinema: Get kicked in the movie-going balls” to encourage that joker into posting. Who knows? Might be someone famous, someone that wrote or directed Dodgeball perhaps?
Yes, it’s nice to see such a loyal following here and although I often cannot keep up with the pace of the comments, I often read through them because there are some intelligent, wise, and witty cookies posting their thoughts here every day. Seriously people, you all need to get jobs at this thing because you’re all quite good at it. I know you’re all unemployed because there’s no other way you could have so much time to post here and watch movies.
I kid, but only a little. Seriously though, this the only site I frequent where I bother to read the comments regularly. This site has some great folks reading it…and a great blogger hosting it.
S-M-R-T, we are so SMART!!
joel, I’m too morbidly ambitious to be unemployed. But I am on hiatus. Long story…& yes, I do realize that you were joking. LOL
glimmer’s even wittier than I thought he was. Give that boy something, would you, Mr. Kennedy? Even if it’s just a round of applause…or maybe another Bianca for his collection. Possibly it’s just me. But didn’t Bianca remind you guys of Angelina? I thought they looked quite a bit alike. But Ms. J doesn’t appear to be plastic. IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM.
If there’s going to be a bar, I need someone who can make Silver Clouds & Quaker Shakes brilliantly. Not just competently. BRILLIANTLY. If you can find such a man, Craigster, I shall reward him…uh…handsomely.
That’s alls I got for now, ladies & gentlemen……….
*thank you* serena ! :)
anyway i’ll soon set up a paypal thing so the l.i.c. crew can help finace my forsy real doll. ;)
and look what ryan g. had to say…

serena, i did quick *cough cough* google check in about 40 seconds i read a review that mentioned the does she look like a. jolie ???
i totally missed it. there must be something in water you smart people drink. :)
Congratulations Craig. Both on reaching your goal in January, but more importantly for the relevance your blog has reached with he regulars. I am not on as often as I would like, but everytime I am I enjoy both your posts and the comments. Keep up the great work.
You’re welcome, glim. Any time.
Thank you Peter. Part time readers are welcome too. I know I can’t be the center of attention all the time.
No. That’s my job, Craig…LMAO
serena, you are the center attention/and could you look us in the eye and promise you won’t leave us when you get *that* call from george clooney ?????
You wear the crown well, Serena.
Awww, I love you guys – & I was just joking. I do hope it came out that way…LOL
You have my word. No matter where I go in life or what I end up doing, I will continue to post at LiC. As long as I’m above ground.
I’m like Ralph Fiennes in TEP. “I will never leave you…”
Not EVER…
Of course you were kidding. But you stil wear the crown well… :)
