75-year-old Roy Scheider, the Academy Award nominated actor best remembered for his role as Chief Martin Brody in the blockbuster movie Jaws, died this afternoon of complications from a staph infection. Scheider suffered from multiple myeloma, a form of plasma cell cancer that effects the immune system.

I can’t leave the house and go to the movies for a couple of hours without coming home to find more awards being handed out.
It looks like hometown favorite Atonement took best picture, but it apparently directed itself because Joe Wright lost best director to Joel & Ethan Coen for No Country for Old Men. [...]
