The Future of Cinema is Now

Sleep in Heavenly PeaceHey boys and girls. The USC School of Cinematic Arts is showing off the work of its students and alumni this weekend at the First Look Festival at USC’s Norris Theatre.

Why do we care? Because the thesis film of friend of LiC Jeff McMahon is a part of the program. It’s a twisted and entertaining little holiday number called Sleep in Heavenly Peace and it’s being shown during Screening #4 which begins at 11:00am on Sunday March 30th. It’s free and each screening will be followed by a lovely courtyard reception.

What’s at stake? Well, a jury will choose the top films to be screened on April 2nd at a Directors Guild of America awards ceremony and the winners will be showered with filthy lucre.

The organizers suggest you RSVP to the screening of your choice to ensure admittance. Click here to go right to Screening #4. On the same page you can also view clips of all the films and get maps to the theatre.

On April 24th, Sleep in Heavenly Peace will screen again at the Architecture & Design Museum as part of the ongoing New Filmmakers Los Angeles series. This one will cost you 5 bucks.

So what are you waiting for? Go out and support tomorrow’s filmmakers today!
