Soderbergh: High Priced ‘Girlfriend’ = Low Budget Movie

After the Che films and after The Informant with Matt Damon, Steven Soderbergh is set to direct The Girlfriend Experience to be written by Brian Koppelman and David Levien (Rounders, Ocean’s 13).

The second film of the six-picture commitment Soderbergh has with Mark Cuban and Todd Wagner (the first was the super-low-budget Bubble), Girlfriend will tell the story of a $10,000 a night call girl. It’s scheduled for a 2-week shoot this fall.

  1. The cover of this book doesn’t immediately interest me, but I could give it a fair shot because I loved Rounders and also 13 better than 12.

  2. …”$10,000 a night call girl”
    …”scheduled for a two-week shoot”

There’s a crack involving Enzyte here somewhere, but it’s not coming together for me.

Is this the wrong opportunity for me to wish Alison a Happy Birthday?

  3. Not at all, Ryan. My birthday is on the 28th, but it’s celebrated the weekend before, all during the week and the weekend after. And sometimes after that.

Thanks for thinking of me. :-)

  4. Heh heh, Ryan said ‘crack.’

Shall we just say it’s Alison Month here at LiC?

Daniel, is this based on a book?

  5. Ryan~~

Funny, I was actually thinking this announcement required a Elliott Spitzer joke, but your joke will work too.

    Also, happy belated birthday, Alison.

  6. LOL, Craig.

    Thanks, Paul.
