‘Blood’ Finally Goes High-Definition

“There’s a whole ocean of oil underneath our feet.
No one can get at it except for me.”
I feel like I haven’t strung the words There, Will, Be and Blood together since the Oscars so here’s a thinly disguised excuse to do just that.
For the 17% of you who care about such things, Paramount is starting to announce release dates for its transition to Blu-ray. No word yet on the Zodiac special edition, but There Will Be Blood is coming June 3.
I was going to call this post There Will Be Blue-ray, but I promised myself not to make any more obvious riffs on the title and I’m sticking to it.
If you’re deeply concerned about Cloverfield, Bee Movie and Next, you can read the Variety article.

W00t!
Love that photo. Kudos to you for resisting yet another riff on the title.
I love that image too. I had to recycle it one last time.
I blame Bee Movie for Vanishing Hive Syndrome.
Humiliated. Mass honeybee suicide, like mortified Japanese salarymen. Total buzz kill.
How about these “up-converting” DVD players?
Really a visible difference, or is it just placebo video?
To this untrained consumer eye with a smallish TV, the jump from standard DVD to upscaled DVD was more eye-popping than the 2nd jump to HiDef…but now that I’ve made that 2nd jump, I don’t ever want to go back.
I, being the lazy freak I am, have not even got TWBB on normal DVD yet. It is still playing at the cinemas, it is quite popular, so I guess I will order the normal DVD {along with Juno} from Amazon or something. For all you rich bitches, enjoy it on Blu-Ray.
No how about sprucing up that No Country DVD!!!
Wow, that oil is going to look freakishly cool and real.
Yay!
Well, I was seriously considering purchasing a Playstation 3 for gaming and to have a nice Blue Ray player with my HD TV, but ended up buying tickets to ATP NY instead. Anyway, I still plan on getting a Blue Ray player eventually and I’m pretty excited about TWBB and Cloverfield coming out in the format (although I just purchased the double disc of the former recently). I don’t look forward to having to replace some of my DVDs with newer DVDs, especially considering I still have some unconverted ones on VHS.
But TWBB especially will be worth buying a second time around for a higher quality. That movie is certainly worthy of high def. And Assassination of Jesse James, as well (my #1 pick for 2007).
I had the same PS3 plans, Justin, but instead of something fun like ATP NY I’ll be needing that $300 for summer road-trip gas fill-ups.
Meanwhile, we can start saving up for the video game version of There Will Be Blood, right? Roaming aggressively around the world, laying waste to natural resources, leaving destruction in our wake. Murder, deception, pillaging in pursuit of oil.
It’s called Grand Theft Autocrat.
That is pure comic genius, Ryan. For the life of me I don’t know why you’re not writing for The Daily Show.
Ahahahhahaha
Ryan is on a roll, between “Grand Theft Autocrat” and “Every Which Way But Laos”. :-)
