Six Degrees of Danny McBride
For a guy who didn’t set out to be an actor, who’s never been to an audition and who doesn’t have a head shot, Danny McBride is doing pretty well for himself lately.
He stars in The Foot Fist Way which opens in New York and Los Angeles on Friday. Before that he was in David Gordon Green’s All the Real Girls and had small parts in Hot Rod, The Heartbreak Kid and Drillbit Taylor. Later this summer he’ll be in Pineapple Express and Tropic Thunder and he’s currently filming Land of the Lost with Will Ferrell.
Now Variety is reporting that McBride is re-teaming with David Gordon Green in a comedy called Your Highness, co-written by McBride and Foot Fist co-star Ben Best, where he’ll play “an arrogant, lazy prince who must complete a quest to save his father’s kingdom.”
No wonder the LA Times is asking if McBride is the next comedy superstar.
The LiC review of The Foot Fist Way will be up in a couple of hours.

Either David Gordon Green is losing his way, or with Snow Angels he feels like he doesn’t have much more to say for now in solemn, minimalistic dramas so he’s switching gears for a while.
Looking forward to your review of The Foot Fist Way. I’ve missed LiC reviews recently.
According to McBride, the films Green made in college were comedies, so maybe he’s returning to his roots.
I was surprised when I heard Green was going Pineapple Express, but apparently he was recommended by McBride. The two went to college together along with the two other guys who made Foot Fist Way.
I’ve been slacking on the reviews the last couple of weeks. FFW isn’t my finest hour, but maybe it’ll get me back in the habit again.
Now that you say that, I seem to vaguely remember reading that Green used to make comedy films in college several years ago. Interesting… That makes me feel better about Pineapple Express and this newly announced project as well.
Finally the King Ralph remake we’ve all been waiting for!
Since Pineapple Express is reputedly terrific, I don’t mourn the loss of another Undertow.
But Ebert said it was a “Masterpiece!”
