Non-Story of the Hour: Jolie vs. Aniston
By Craig Kennedy - June 12th, 2008; 4:56 pm
The AP takes time out from keeping tabs on the world flushing iself down the crapper to make a big deal out of the shared October 24 release date of Angelina Jolie in Changeling and Jennifer Aniston in He’s Just Not That Into You. You’d think the former Brad Pitt squeeze and the current Brad Pitt squeeze were seated next to each other at a dinner party. Oooh, catfight!
Spare me.

I wasn’t looking closely and when the title of this posting popped up I thought it said “Jackie vs. Aniston” making me wonder what kind of buddy comedy wackiness Jackie Chan was getting into this time.
I wasn’t looking closely when I read jeffmcm’s comment and for a second there I was excited about the jackoff wankiness of an Aniston/Jolie booty comedy.
We’ll turn this story into something interesting yet!
One had him.
The other’s got him. At least for now.
News at 11. *yawn*
Could someone give this thing a rest? PLEASE?
I got sleepy just ranting about it. I like Jeff and Ryan’s misreads much better.
I concede to Ryan on the basis of ‘jackoff wankiness’ which is what I want to name my second or third child.
name the other one Wackoff Jankiness and then write a Dr. Seuss story about them.
I hope whoever ends up distributing TWO LOVERS has enough of a sense of humor to release it on this date as well. Just because, y’know, Gwyneth. I mean, how could they resist now?
Otherwise, yeah, pretty boring stuff. But wouldn’t you rather have this kind of news day than another Newman cancer rumor day? Because I would.
Point taken Mr. Clark. Also, can you be in charge of scheduling stuff? I like your damaged take on things.
Craig~~~
I dunno, how’s the pay?
My first act as universal scheduling guy would be to push the release date of Benjamin Button to next weekend, so that grown-ups have something to watch.
And while we’re on the topic of Pitt exes, maybe Juliette Lewis’ shitty band could play in LA the same weekend as the Aniston/Jolie box-office catfight. Just for completeness’ sake.
You can have half of all my advertising revenue.
Hahhaha…Juliet and the Licks. Are they still together?
I’m fairly sure Aniston is over the split by now. I also don’t think that Jolie and Aniston are competing over Brad.
This is so, incredibly old and boring. People split up and date and get married all the time. I don’t get what’s so special about these three, but everytime you bring up Aniston, someone brings up Brangelina, and vice versa. MOVE ON, CELEBRITY MEDIA. NOBODY CARES.
K~ I think part of the problem is that Aniston is not particularly interesting on her own. Especially compared to Jolie, Aniston is mostly just pretty and TV-wholesome, which is great when you’re starring on FRIENDS but not so much when you want to be an A-list movie star, something she hasn’t had all that much luck with so far. But people still know her, so they grab onto what they can, which in this case is her relationship with Pitt. By contrast, nobody mentions Billy Bob Thornton when talking about “Brangelina”, do they?
That said, yeah, this is pretty lame non-news.
Has anyone seen the weird trailer for the Jennifer Aniston movie with the dog? I’ve already forgotten what it’s called.
Paul I think you’ve nailed Aniston perfectly…no pun intended. And I don’t mean this as a crtiticism because I like her, but she’s much better on a small screen and as part of an ensemble. The star vibe just doesn’t come through on the big screen.
I agree with both of you. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being an excellent television actress — which she definitely is. I like her, I loved her on Friends, but I don’t think she’s got the sort of screen presence that translates well on the big screen.
I agree… In many ways, in terms of Aniston’s “stardom,” the ongoing Brangelina media circus is one of the few things that consistently keeps her name in the public conscious to the extent that it is. And she certainly doesn’t seem into fit the “movie star” shoes she’s been trying on.
There’s no sin in not being a movie star. If she wasn’t so pretty, she might well make a fine character actress and I mean that as a compliment.
