The Dark Knight’s Viral End

To the Internets, Robin!

Fans who have been following the crazy viral marketing campaign for The Dark Knight were finally rewarded last night with free tickets to IMAX screenings of the film on Tuesday July 15. Pretty cool…unless you live in an unselect city.

  1. “The Dark Knight’ only opens in SA on the 25th of July, which is so gay, but there is a press screening scheduled for earlier, so fingers crossed.

  2. My apologies for this diversion, but I thought it would be very interesting to note that one of the films that Craig issued lavish praise on while engaged in his marathon stint at the Los Angeles Film Festival, LA FRANCE has opened today in New York at the Anthology Film Archives on Second Avenue.

A critic we all admire and respect, Manola Dargis, has given the film an exemplary review, perhaps even better than that in this morning’s New York Times, which can be acsessed. Methinks this is essential viewing, and I for one will be at the Anthology sometime over the next three nights, in between what is sure to be kid-sponsored forays into the multiplex for the likes of HELLBOY and JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH.

But yep, THE DARK KNIGHT hysteria is in full gear. Over at Awards Daily, our friend Ryan Adams is boldly predicting that the Christopher Nolan-directed movie may snare a bushel of Academy Awards nods on a recently posted thread. He does make persuasive arguments.

  3. The caption on your picture just made my day.

I had to purchase tickets to the ‘regular’ midnight screening on Thursday, but I’m not that upset since my previous IMAX experiences have been less than amazing. I know, I know, Nolan has shot entire sequences with IMAX cameras, yada yada yada. If I need to see the film a second time (and I have the sneaking suspicion that I will), then I’ll catch it in Eyeball-Melting-Vision the second time around.

Ok, I have to go now. The internets are calling me.

  4. I’ve got opening night tickets purchased myself, Evan, and I’m with you on avoiding the crazy and seeing it in Imax a week or so later. Since this is a rare occasion where scenes were actually shot with Imax cameras, I feel I must give the devil his full due on Dark Knight.
