New ‘Burn After Reading’ One-Sheets

Check them out…after the jump so as not to spoil things for those who take their movie virginity seriously…

[Update: 7/14 - I've been asked to remove these images because they're "not approved film assets"]

Here they are, courtesy of /Film. I didn’t like the one on the right instantly, but I’m told it’s in line with the spirit of the trailer and it’s growing on me. Still, I like the one on the left and the original teaser poster better. Click either poster to see them in high resolution.

Joel and Ethan Coen’s Burn After Reading will premiere at the 65th Venice Film Festival which runs between August 27 and September 6. It will hit US theaters on September 12.

  1. I agree. The one on the right is just plain…kinda whatever. I don’t know, but it’s not doing a thing for me.

Maybe seeing the trailer would unlock it’s secret charms, but that isn’t happening.

  2. I was THIS close to checking out the trailer. I resisted. But the day is young.

  3. Those are actually awesome, me thinks

  4. Aha, I knew these would land here. ;)

Considering that most of the movie-going public needs big splashy pictures of the stars to really “get” that they’re in the film (especially for a film like this, names aren’t “enough” usually) I think they did as an exceptional a job as they could, and I really like it despite the sort-a obviousness of it. I particularly enjoy looking at the busy, but not too lines that converge into hands holding guns, encasing the title in a box of sorts.

Also, not sure if anyone can read the words on the right but seeing a bigger shot of the poster, it’s pretty funny by itself, “A high stakes, low life mid-level CIA thriller.”

I’ve only seen the trailer twice, way back when. If you’re going to see the trailer I’d do it now, or at least soon, or just don’t. If you’re trying to stay virginal in that way, don’t spoil it when we’re getting close to the release date as I’m happy only partially remembering things from the trailer at this point, which was excellent for indiicating that this film will be a lot of fun.

  5. One on the right looks like a TV Guide cover featuring the new Fall sitcom on CBS, “Three and a Half Men.”

(Decide for yourself who’s the half a man.)
