Columbus Launches Robert Kennedy Movie
As a director, Chris Columbus (Home Alone, Centennial Man, Mrs. Doubtfire, the first two Harry Potter movies) is a poster-boy for the words bland, middle of the road and workmanlike. So it is that news he’s planning to direct a film based on Thurton Clarke’s book The Last Campaign: Robert F. Kennedy and 82 Days That Inspired America doesn’t do much to get me or the LiC monkeys worked up.
Next thing you know, Opie will be directing a movie about Nixon. Oh wait…

Ugh, he’s the most boring director.
“Next thing you know, Opie will be making a movie about Nixon. Oh wait…”
Ha!
An RFK movie? We had that TV movie, RFK, and Emilio Estevez’s movie, the title for which I’ve completely forgotten at this moment because it was so… forgettable. (SELF-EDIT THREE MINUTES LATER: Bobby! Ugh.)
Why not a film about the life and times of James Polk, or Grover Cleveland? Heck, if you want someone else who never quite became president, try on William Jennings Bryan.
I blame Obama for this. Well, I can’t blame him for Chris Columbus.
K. you about summed it up.
Alexander, he might as well make a movie about Millard Fillmore - equally boring.
I got a big chuckle after googling Millard Fillmore, Craig. I dunno me presidents too well, though I was doing some serious reading on Grover Cleveland this past weekend (on account of the Edwards debacle and all), sly fox that one.
Did reading about Millard make you sleepy?
A little | -) (that’s my attempt at a sleep face, by the way)
good one! It’s either sleepy or it’s got some serious monobrow.
