Greengrass ‘Chicago 7′ Rumor Quashed

Faced with the juicy rumor that Paul Greengrass (United 93, The Bourne Identity) was taking over Trial of the Chicago 7 from Steven Spielberg, CHUD’s Devin Faraci did the sensible thing and sent the man an email.
Greengrass is busy in post-production with his Iraq film Green Zone starring Matt Damon, but he replied to say that, while he liked the project, he couldn’t fit it into his schedule.

I’m still wondering what a Greengrass-directed Watchmen would have been like. Would Greengrass be as slavishly devoted to the source material? Me wonders. I just revisited United 93 last night. His style is definitely loose.
I knew it was too good to be true. Ugh.
Dang! Oh well, we still have THE GREEN ZONE to look forward to. If anyone can make a good Iraq-related movie, it’s Greengrass.
