MTV: More Teen Vampires
MTV Movie’s Blog appears to be completely in the tank for all things Twilight. Most of the movie sites I keep track of have been largely silent about the upcoming teen vampire flick based on the very popular novels by Stephenie Meyer. Cinematical has kept on top of the phenomenon, but I realized the other day that MTV is posting almost daily.
Most fan sites are dominated by a teen boy ethic, but MTV’s corporate whore handlers smell money when they see all those teen girls lined up screaming their lungs out for Edward Cullen. It’s all Twilight all the time. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. It actually says as much about the fanboy sites as it says about MTV.
Anyway, there’s no real news here; just a curious observation that probably amounts to nothing.

I keep hearing this movie title and know nothing about it but keep thinking it’s a remake of that Paul Newman flick.

This reminds me of when I first heard about Harry Potter back in 2000 and had no f’ing clue what people were talking about. Then I saw the first movie and was still mystified as to the big deal.
It’s not completely unusual for me to be totally out of the loop on a fad, but this one really snuck up on me. Until a couple of months ago I didn’t really know it even existed and when I first started hearing about it, like you I thought it was something else…though the Paul Newman/Reese Witherspoon movie didn’t pop into my mind.
