‘Synecdoche’ Clips

Synecdoche New York

Twitch has three clips from Charlie Kaufman’s much anticipated Synecdoche, New York starring Philip Seymour Hoffman. They’ve been kicking around France since Cannes, but this is the first I’ve heard of them. Enjoy, but don’t tell me what you saw.

  1. I didn’t watch the clips and I’ve never heard of this movie. But based on the poster alone, I can tell it’s going to be amazing.

  2. No watching for me either!

  3. If I watch all the clips that everybody else avoids to preserve their virginity, does that make me a trailer-trash clipslut?

Fine, then. Will it tarnish anyone’s squeaky clean null expectations if I say the clips seem to fulfill the promise of everything I hoped this movie might be?

If there was any worry that Charlie Kaufman’s visual sense might not match his verbal dexterity, these glimpses should set some cloistered heads to rest.

(nothing like some good cloistered head.)

  4. I want to second Ryan’s observation, the clips I’ve seen thus far suggest a cinematic style well suited to the material. I absolutely loved the script, several weeks on and it can still work its way to the forefront of my mind - so much resonance.

  5. This one, the Fincher and the Coen film are my top 3 for Fall/Winter methinks.
