‘Brothers Bloom’ Pushed Back
I listed Rian (Brick) Johnson’s The Brothers Bloom in the October Fall Forecast, but Johnson confirmed on his own message board that it’s being moved back to a limited release on December 19 with a wide release to follow in January.
According to Johnson:
“October and November are crowded as hell, it’s a tough tough market, especially for a smart unique film like ours, and we’d have a week or two at the most to sink or swim. Whereas concentrating on a couple markets for awards consideration in December, then pushing the wide in the more open January slot just seemed like a better use of resources.”
Hopefully that means it’ll play AFI in November. Either way, October’s schedule was shaping up to be the strongest of the season in my opinion, but I guess now December just got better.
The Brothers Bloom stars Mark Ruffalo and Adrien Brody as two scam artists who get wrapped up with wealthy and beautiful Rachel Weisz.

now, if we can just find out what happened to that jennifer lynch film that was supposed to hit in 2008 ???
Is this good or bad? It would seem good, no?
And lord, did Rachel Weisz look beautiful in the trailer.
Bad for us (we have to wait more than two months longer now), good for the film, I imagine.
January’s less crowded than fall?
Interesting that they’re trying an Oscar strategy.
And yeah, we like Rachel Weisz.
You mean Surveillance, Glim? Still doesn’t have a release date.
yeah that’s the one *darn* :(
It could crop up any time Glimmer, but it’ll be a limited release and in my small experience, those are hard to keep track of. If I hear anything, I’ll let you know.
