  1. Love that film. Great clip!

  2. It’s all about the mood. Take out Lynch’s particular way of getting you to feel that intensity and eerieness in the cinematography/performances/sound design, and it’s a scene from a pretentious student film.

  3. Creepy.

Creepier since I’m home alone tonight.

  4. Don’t pick up the phone JB. Nothing good can come of it.

The mood in the opening half and parts of the 2nd half of Lost Highway are amazing Jeff. There’s this whole creeping sense of Lynchian unease that builds and builds leading up to this scene.

I wonder what a straight up and sustained Lynch horror movie would be like.

  5. I consider myself pretty jaded and hard to impress, and the last time I was REALLY scared in a movie theater was watching Inland Empire.

  6. Inland Empire was genuinely nightmarish, unsettling and scary.

Eraserhead would be considered by some as a “straight up” Lynch horror film, I suppose, in its monochromatic and kaleidoscopic way.

  7. I can’t see the clip, since I’m not from the US. Weren’t you guys like, AGAINST discrimination? ;-)

  8. Sorry Hedwig, I keep forgetting that Hulu is just a US thing. Their clips just look so much nicer than YouTube.

  9. Ditto Hedwig, diito!

  10. Ok, I’ve switched it to a YouTube clip for the International crowd.

  11. Craig, my darling…

Haven’t I talked to you about Hulu before?

    *sniff*

I thought you paid a little more attention than that, honey.

    *stamps china doll feet*

What do I have to do to get taken seriously around here????

    Wait. Don’t answer that….

  12. It took your initial complaint to convince me to try and find an alternative this time Miranda. Of course you’re taken seriously. China doll feet and all.

  13. I DO adore you, Craig. You know that…

Well, I’m happy to be taken seriously at LiC. That’s why I’m always stoked to jump over the fence and play.

OFF the net I’ll make sure that people do. YOU’D BETTER BELIEVE IT.

But ON the net we’re all just so many words and phrases. Apparently…

I think you (of all people) understand just how frustrating this is for me personally.

Not all of us are lucky enough to live in LA….

  14. One of the biggest joys of blogging is knowing that people all over the world could read what I write and I’d hate to exclude anyone just because Hulu doesn’t have international rights to the things they show.

It’s as silly as region specific DVDs or movies that come out in one place, but not another.

  15. Um…

    Like…THE FALL?

  16. Oui

  17. Merci, mon petit chou.
