‘Che’ Finally Picked up by IFC
Forget about the rumors that Magnolia would be distributing Steven Soderbergh’s Che. Variety’s Pamela McLintock is reporting this morning that IFC has picked the film up for distribution in North America and plans a one-week Oscar qualifying run in NY and LA in December.
IFC will then release the film in theaters and through video-on-demand in January. Of course this also means Che will be subject to IFC’s ridiculous exclusive video rental deal with Lackluster, though we’ve noticed with other IFC films this hasn’t stopped Netflix from carrying them if they want.
Though the two companion parts of the epic biography are referred to, there is no discussion of whether Che will be shown separately asThe Argentine and The Guerrilla or as one film with an intermission the way the cinema gods intended.
Either way, let the Che countdown clock begin.
Heads Up: Nick Plowman (again!)

Woot!
But when will SA get it, that’s what I want to know…
Since I don’t snowmobile, prance around in snow shoes or hunt caribou, a good option for me in January would be to sit for hours watching this film.
But just in case, I’ll keep a vial of painkillers next to the M&Ms.
