Loose Ends: 9/10/08
I’m liking the idea of compiling the odd development, production and distribution tidbits into one post so Loose Ends might become an irregular feature. Here’s what’s been going on for the last few days:
Summit Entertainment has picked up US rights to The Hurt Locker, Kathryn Bigelow’s well-received Iraq action picture about a bomb squad in Baghdad. No word yet on a release date. Variety
Howl. Mary-Louise Parker, Paul Rudd, Jeff Daniels, David Strathairn and Alan Alda join James Franco in Howl, the biography of beat poet Allen Ginsberg. The story will focus on Ginsberg’s 1950s obscenity trial. THR
Paul Verhoeven (Robocop, Basic Instinct, Black Book) is in talks to direct an untitled erotic thriller described as Risky Business meets Fatal Attraction. Written by first time screenwriter Wendy Miller, the story follows a college intern who gets involved with the boss’s wife. How many films is Verhoeven attached to now? Variety
Writer-director Courtney Hunt will follow up Frozen River with a film based on Willy Vlautin’s novel Northline. It tells the story of a pregnant woman who heads to Reno to escape her abusive boyfriend. When things get really bad, she has imaginary conversations with Paul Newman to help her out of jams. I didn’t make that last part up. THR

I’m not going to take the time to check, but I thought I saw a feeder headline that had Wells gushing over The Hurt Locker. Whatever.
Everytime I’ve seen “Howl” in a headline recently I’ve been nostalgic for Howl’s Moving Castle. I need to see both that and Spirited Away again asap.
The other two movies sound like retreads to me. Unnecessary ones at that.
I saw the same feed blurb, and yeah I think he was pretty high on it.
“An irregular feature”, Craig? That’s too cute.
Semantics gets me hot…
Hahahah..spend lots of time in quiet corners of libraries?
Well, libraries are big enough for two.
You do the math, sweetie…
Imagine if anybody actually knew what Craig or Miranda looked like, I wonder (rubbing chin, starts to dissolve away)…
I’ve gone on record and I have nothing to hide.
You won’t EVER see pics of me ANYWHERE due to the mentally and emotionally unstable nature of some scumbags I have encountered on the net.
I’m VERY protective of my privacy. That’s the end of that story.
But SOME PEOPLE on the net know what I look like DEFINITIVELY - and I’ve talked about it at my site.
5′9″, 140 pounds, long wavy blonde hair, fair skin, green eyes. Hourglass bod like MARILYN MONROE.
I look a little like SCARLETT JOHANSSON. The same type at any rate. But I have been told that I resemble a more overtly sexy CATHERINE DENEUVE on several occasions.
I realize you were joking, jeff.
And yes, you’re welcome….
