A Thousand Years of Good Prayers, the latest film from indie icon Wayne Wang (Chan is Missing, Dim Sum, The Joy Luck Club) opens in New York on September 19 and Los Angeles on September 26 while a companion piece called The Princess of Nebraska will premiere for the low low price of FREE on YouTube’s recently launched Screening Room service on October 17.
A Thousand Years of Good Prayers stars Henry O (Shanghai Noon) as a Chinese man who travels to the United States seeking out his estranged daughter following the death of his wife. I’ll be catching a screening of this next week so stay tuned for more info. Trailer
The Princess of Nebraska stars Ling Li as a pregnant foreign exchange student who travels from Nebraska to San Franciso seeking an abortion. Trailer
Both films are based on an award winning collection of short stories by Yiyun Li.
