You’ve seen the trailer and if you live in NY you’ll be able to see the whole film beginning October 1 at the Film Forum.
To launch their new First Weekend series, indie film organization IFP (the fine folks who bring you FilmMaker Magazine) bought up all the tickets for the 8pm October 2nd show and they’re reselling them as $25 premium tickets that include a post-screening Q&A and after-party with Ballast writer/director Lance Hammer. All box office proceeds will go directly to the filmmaker.
The idea is to draw attention to self-distributed films like Ballast and also guarantee that the films have an opening night sellout.

That shot takes my breath away.
Anyway, if you are in NY and you don’t do this for Ballast, you are mean. Okay, so you all know who you are, so just do it, please. I would if I could. Plus, Ballast looks ama-zing.
I wish I could find out where it was going to play next when it expands on 10/17
Is there no way to find out? I would love to see this …
I will be at the Film Forum with bells on.
I’m sending out a few emails. We’ll see if anything comes back. In the mean time, I assume information as it becomes available will be found at the fim’s website: http://ballastfilm.com/
I’m not sure what to do. I want to see it as soon as possible but I’m not sure if it’s going to come out here before a special screening with Lance Hammer on Oct. 29, which I would obviously rather go to. Kind of want that time to be my first.
Great for him to get the cash from this.
Since he’s self-releasing, I would guess that it will play in your area around the same time as your special screening.
But then maybe I’m just talking out of my ass.
The only information I’ve gotten so far is that it’s opening in LA on November 7.
