One of the movies in tomorrow’s Weekend Forecast put me in the mind of one of the best movies of the 1980s: Bill Forsyth’s Local Hero. It’s one of those rare magical movies that brings me joy and makes me happy to be alive.

This is a movie I haven’t see in a really long time.
Great film.
I adore LOCAL HERO, and yes I agree it is a magical film. It views with HOUSEKEEPING as Forsyth’s best film. Nice choice.
I knew there’d be some lovin’ for this one out there in LiC-land.
Sam, I love Housekeeping also. That’s an awesome movie.
Woah, Craig: today, you are my hero. I rarely see love for this completely underrated gem of a film.
Heck, I might go watch it right now.
Ahhh, I can feel the Local Hero loving spreading far and wide.
Seriously, this was one of the movies that made me fall in love with movies. Charming as hell without being cloying or phony.
Plus it has a mermaid and Burt Lancaster.
Alison, that is wonderful news what you say there about HOUSEKEEPING! Bravo!
Philip, I am with you for another viewing too!
The mermaid and Burt indeed Craig!
God I love this movie. Great clip.
Survey Says: Local Hero Owns.
