Trailer: Let the Right One In

Forget about Twilight, here’s a trailer for a Swedish film about adolescent vampires called Let the Right One In that has been lighting up the Internet as it makes it way along the festival circuit. Word on this one has been very positive.

I missed it when it played at LAFF, but I’ll be seeing it in the next couple of days. Here’s hoping it lives up to the hype.

Let the Right One In opens on October 24, just in time for Halloween.

Check out the international trailer after the jump.

  1. I started to watch the international trailer and stopped because I was already fairly curious after the first trailer. This looks really interesting, if only because it looks fairly different from anything else I’ve seen in a while.

    Kids are creepy.

  2. They’re showing this at the horror marathon I’ll be attending in a few weeks. Looks like lots of fun. Along with this, they’re showing ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE and a bunch of oldies- THE HILLS HAVE EYES (’77), Carpenter’s THE FOG, KILL, BABY… KILL, MEET THE FEEBLES and CANNIBAL FEROX aka MAKE THEM DIE SLOWLY. These are always great, and this selection should go over well with the crowd.

  3. That looks sooooooo good. Bergman meets Hooper. So yeah, I’m sold.

  4. Wonderfully disgusting sound effects. I’m there.

  5. Whoa, you mean there’s a horror movie being released this month aside from Saw V (guaranteed crapfest) and Quarantine (likely crapfest)? Terrific!

  6. I saw this post at Fataculture yesterday, and I agree it’s intriguing, if bizarre. Is this playing in LA only?

  7. It’s opening in limited release on 10/24 and I assume that will include NY and LA. Beyond that, I don’t know.

It’s unsafe to judge a movie based on only seeing half of it, but I was too tired last night to finish. So far, it’s very interesting. It’s more creepy and unsettling than scary or gross. Parts of it are quite sweet. I’d hesitate to classify it as horror so far, it’s more of a good coming-of-age tale where one of the kids happens to be a vampire.

I’ll start over with it this weekend and report back sooner or later.

  8. Thanks for the heads up on this Craig. I hadn’t even heard of it. Looks slick and disturbing, although I tend to shy away from disturbing things involving children. The kiddie vampire in 30 Days of Night really upset me, especially when *SPOILER* they chopped its head off. And not upset as in scared, but just pissed off - it felt obscenely exploitative. Hopefully this doesn’t have that same vibe. Perhaps it comes with having children myself, but if you’re not on your A-game when it comes to horror and kids, it really rubs me the wrong way.

  9. so far it’s not moving in an exploitative direction, but I’ll keep you posted when I watch the whole thing.

  10. So far? Are you watching a screener, or liveblogging from the theater? :)

  11. Freaky.

    Looks very promising.

I hope they did not give away too many “money shots.”

  12. hahah…yes, I’m a complete Blog Douche.
