Turns out the movie business keeps rolling whether you’re paying attention to it or not. Here’s a handful of recent casting announcements featuring interesting actors in not-so-interesting projects.
Amy Adams is set to star as NPR correspondent Jacki Lyden in a film based on Lyden’s memoir Daughter of the Queen of Sheba. A fixture at NPR for over 30 years, Lyden’s book is about the positive and negative impacts of her mother’s battle with mental illness. Variety
Adrien Brody is set to executive produce and star in The Courier, an independent action picture directed by Russell Mulcahy (Highlander). Pursued by both sides of the law, Brody makes his way across country to deliver a briefcase to a criminal whose whereabouts are unknown. Variety
Natalie Portman replaces Jennifer Lopez in Love and Other Impossible Pursuits. Based upon the novel by Ayelet Waldman, it tells the story of a woman who is pulled out of her depression by her 5-year-old stepson. The film will be directed by Don Roos (The Opposite of Sex). Variety

“Lyden’s book is about the positive and negative impacts of her mother’s battle with mental illness.”
I am very much looking forward to the ‘positive impacts’ part of the story. Finally someone will move beyond the biased media’s accounts and give mental illness the fair treatment it deserves!
Clearly Jeff you didn’t read the seminal mental health work “Better Living Through Batshit Insanity”
A book and movie deal…not bad.
Wow, 2 out of 3 of these are related to mental illness. The Natalie Portman one sounds intriguing too.
Natalie Portman for Jennifer Lopez. Is that an upgrade? :)
