By Craig Kennedy - November 1st, 2008; 3:00 pm
For those of you keeping score at home, this is LiC’s 1000th post. Not a big deal in the big picture I suppose, but considering I wasn’t sure if there would be a 2nd post after my 1st, I’m happy this day has arrived.
Thanks to all the readers new and old, current and former, and a special shout out to those of you who liven the joint up with your comments. You make this more enjoyable than I ever dreamed it would be.
Thank you.

Congratulations, my darling boy.
You know that I will always adore you, support you, revere you - and I’ll be around FOREVER to sympathize, immortalize, economize stc. etc. etc.
Here’s to the next thousand.
Happy days…
Congrats. I knew you could do it, and you got here in less than 2 years no less.
Ah, sweet satisfaction. And now on to post #2000.
Ooh, congratulations, Craig!
That’s so awesome Craig! Congrats dude.
Congratulations indeed. A superb accomplishment, due to commitment and passion.
Super-congratz, Mr. Kennedy. Are you ready for your close-up, now?
Huge congrats, Craig. In essentially an 18-1/2 month period, you reached 1,000 posts. Astonishing, my friend. Can’t wait for every post leading to #2,000, as others have said.
Congrats! I know I haven’t been around lately, but I’ve enjoyed the road here and I greatly admire your persistence and the continued quality of your input. It’s truly astonishing what you’ve put together in less than two years, and I hope you keep it up for years to come!
Someone producing all you have to this point (no matter how many monkeys work tirelessly in the background) is no mean feat. What astounds me is how the quality never drops off despite the regularity of posts.
You were born to write a film blog. The successful formula isn’t just the immense talent and passion you bring to the role, it’s also who you are - values, temperament, and integrity.
Off topic -> Hedwig, that photo scares me.
A belated but heartfelt congratulations - and a thank you for the work that you’ve done in opening a world of cinema for all of us who are obsessed with it. I know my perspectives and my writing have been affected by LiC, which is saying a lot. Keep up the great work. By the way, I guess I forgot to congratulate you for 100 posts in July, too. Knew you’d get to it eventually!
Jeez, thanks guys for all the lovely words.
1000 seemed like a long time coming…a lot longer than for some other blogs. I’m sure those of you who have started more recently will hit this mark much quicker than I did. LiC was a much more leisurely paced place back in ‘the old days.’
Hah hah Daniel. I think it was you who inspired me to shoot for 100 (and miss) in February, so thanks. And believe me, if I’ve opened up anything for anyone, I’ve had the favor returned 10 fold. Who do you think passive-aggressively inspired me to watch more documentaries?
You picked a helluva year to be “passively aggressively” coerced into watching more docs. Your timing is impeccable in that respect, as was starting this blog when other sites like HE were on the wane.
You and the rest of the readership have kept me in theaters this year, seeing a lot of films I would have missed otherwise, so I’m pretty darn happy LIC exists. I’m all for supporting a wider variety of older movies in 2009 but don’t slouch on the new stuff TOO much (especially the indies and foreign films) as LIC has become indispensable to feeding my new movie habit.
Haha, well it’s been easy to push them in 2008, that’s for sure. Now that I know which ones resonate with people and which ones don’t, it’s a bit easier to direct my passive-aggressiveness, haha.
Speaking of me pushing things, reflecting back on so many conversations it strikes me that there is probably a whole lot of discussion to be had at LiC about older movies and favorite movies and actors and actresses, etc. There have been some great conversations here, for example those that have come out of The Watercooler. Problem is, we’re all always so focused on the next new release.
I don’t need to say it, but uh, offsea-…
One of the big regrets of this blog has been that I don’t cover older movies more often (I think I’ve reviewed 2). In fact, since I’ve been blogging I’ve watched FEWER older movies overall and that’s an even bigger regret.
Old movies used to be my bread and butter. Up until recently I didn’t pay too much attention to new releases and that explains some of the huge gaps I have in my viewing of modern stuff.
My New Years resolution last year was to post every day and to cover more independent films and I think I’ve done a pretty good job of that so maybe this year I’ll dedicate myself to looking at older movies.
Congratulations and keep up the good work.
your comment got kinda buried there Joel with the time change. I didn’t know I had to do it manually and it messed things up for a while. Back to normal though.
I realized early on that there are thousands of people who are smarter than me, but if I can get a few people excited about what’s going on in movies and feed off their excitement for myself, then it’s a win-win. Extra bonus if we can steer one another to movies we wouldn’t ordinarilly have checked out on our own.
Thanks Jeff. I’m glad to have you around.
Your commitment to highlighting films that almost never see the light of day by “mainstream” web journals in your weekly Weekend Forecasts alone is an invaluable cinematic service, Craig. Your blog could not be more appropriately named, as your boundless enthusiasm for all things cinematic is infectious because you eat, breathe and sleep it.
