Trailer: Up
By Craig Kennedy - November 10th, 2008; 3:24 pm
Ok, trying to get back up to speed on current movie events and wondering if there’s any point in running days old material. In this case, it’s Pixar so it never gets old.

Pixar sure likes reminding people that their next movie is by Pixar, the people who brought you _____ and _____ and of course _____.
I can’t say that that trailer made me especially excited, but it seems like a mere opening salvo for this movie.
Hah, yes Alexander. I think the basic message is, “OK, we know this doesn’t instantly pertain to any of your interests and well, it’s kinda outta left field. But hey, TRUST US.” If I remember correctly, every Pixar movie since The Incredibles has had an ad campaign like this at some point, on some level. This one was the most overt with references.
Anyway, it looks good and if it’s Pixar, they’ve still got my ass in the seat come opening weekend.
oh no pixar….
Don’t hate on Pixar Glimmer. There’s plenty of bland, soulless animation out there to dump on. You don’t have to like it and you don’t have to see it, but Pixar is a ray of light in an American animation slum.
Looks like Pixar took a bit of inspiration from Miyazaki, but took it in a more cutesy American direction. I ‘m not as eager to see this as I was for Ratatouille and Wall-E upon first seeing their trailers. That’ll probably change and Pixar gets an immediate benefit of the doubt from me.
craig a big reason i hate pixar (and yep i have no interest in watching it.and yes i’ve seen pixar films) is the more successful this stuff is the less chance there is of anything heading a way i like. yes this only relevant to me. and that’s why it’s important.
ha ha ha… ;)
the more pixar crap breaks through gets beyond beyond ultra praised. the likely hood when i embarrass myself in public will get dismissed as ‘weird’ /non important. the more ‘indie’ films that are just normal mentality will continue to prevail.
less hope of anything differnt coming out.will seem like an eternity. the more the movies as pacifiers(yes craig i borrowed that term from you *smooch*) /mere entertainment/sanitized and mainstream only stuff. worldview will rule against the mainstream.
the less chance people(’the masses’) will take anything seriously until it gets push down their throat.
the more pixar nation grows the more you’ll hear of adults telling kids it’s ok to be themeselves/think for themselves/be an indivual. and then shoot down anything/anyone that’s different.
the more pixar grows the more toothless family entertainment we’ll get.(no i just don’t care sotty…)
yeah i wish pixar was in some sort of animation ghetto where i would have to know of them…
pixar in your dreams/my nighmare…
ok,ok, just for you pixar mavens. now don’t say i’ve never done anything for you/and other cliches…

scrawl/yes i said scrawl…down the page a bit. and you’ll see the options for downloading various sizes hi-def versions of the up trailer. now, now, now… :)
I’m unapologetic. Pixar makes me happy. This trailer does, too. How many kids are going to try to blow up bunches of balloons to make their house float after this comes out?
Jennybee, you’re talking to a kid who jumped out of a tree with an umbrella hoping to pull a Mary Poppins.
A) It didn’t work and B) I wonder if my folks were surprised I didn’t grow up gay. Mary Poppins???
I see what you’re saying Glimmer, I really do. Mostly mainstream stuff bores me too, but I try to mix it up. Plenty of indy and foreign stuff plus a healthy dose of the cream of the mainstream. Pixar is it.
Feel free to make fun of Shrek or anything else from DreamWorks all you want though.
