Trailer: Coraline
The adaptation of Neil (Sandman) Gaiman’s children’s book Coraline by writer/director Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas) has been on LiC radar since it was originally announced as a 2008 release. Since then it’s been pushed back to February 2009, but my enthusiasm is undimmed.
At last, here’s a look at the first Coraline trailer:
The story of a young girl (voiced by Dakota Fanning) who discovers a secret door to a beguiling parallel world that turns out to be altogether more frightening than her own is the first stop motion animated film to be originally filmed in 3-D.

I’m sorry the studio is dumping this one in February, but for me that will be a perfect time to don the 3D glasses and see this one. Looking forward to it.
Are they dumping it or are they being wily? Kids movies with no competition seem like a very safe bet. I have not facts or evidence to back this up, but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
My own younger classes have loved the short novel, although I found it somewhat derivative. Too bad what they are doing with it though.
