Pitt and Fincher talk ‘Button’ with Charlie Rose
I just finished watching the day-after rerun of this episode of Charlie Rose which originally aired Christmas night. Charlie has an unfortunate habit of dropping plot spoilers willy nilly and, though he’s not as bad here as he was on two episodes about The Reader (author Bernhard Schlink one night and Kate Winslet, David Kross, Stephen Daldry and David Hare the next), you probably should wait to watch it until you’ve seen the film.
If you’ve already seen Benjamin Button, behold: Brad Pitt and David Fincher give good interview.

Craig, did you get a chance to see the DiCaprio/Winslet interview on Rose? I’m tempted to watch it but if it’s full of spoilers, I’ll just wait until next week.
Charlie Rose also has the unfortunate habit of being Charlie Rose.
Having attempted a few short interviews myself in the last couple of months (and the number I actually posted should tell you how THAT all went….), I have a new respect for Charlie, as frustrating as he can be sometimes. Interviewing people is hard.
Having said that, Dorothy, I didn’t watch the Rev Road one yet. I only saw part of the Winslet Reader, but all of the Schlink Reader and he was dropping bombs left and right. I’d seen the movie and I was still annoyed.
I’d steer clear until you see the movie.
Yes, Charlie’s a good sport overall. I’ll look forward to seeing these after I see the movies.
Oh, I just saw “The Reader” episode. WIthin 10 minutes, they give away EVERYTHING in the movie. I was shocked. Well…not shocked, because I know you risk major spoilage with Charlie, but this really went far beyond just a few minor spoilers. They gave away the entire plot, and every single twist and turn. It was a dissection, not a conversation. I enjoyed it thoroughly because I had already seen the film, but I would have been furious if I hadn’t.
Was this the episode with the cast and crew or was it the one from the night before with the author?
If it was the cast and crew, it turns out he did it two nights in a row! Like every major detail!
Sometimes I get a little carried away with spoiler avoidance…I fear I’m too vague with plot summaries….but that was crazy.
The one with the cast and crew. It was very instructive, yes. But man, would it kill them to give the uninitiated a heads up?
Luckily you’d already seen it!
Just finished watching the Pitt/Fincher interview. Good stuff. Man, I love Charlie.
You know, it’s just not enough that Pitt is handsome, he also has to be a funny, charming, self-effacing sonofabitch to boot.
Him and Clooney man…I tell ya. It’s just not fair.
I thought Fincher was the looker out of those three ;)
That fits, Dorothy. I never had you pegged as one who goes with the crowd. Sometimes the crowd goes with YOU (coughcoughMarionCotillardcough), but that’s another story.
