LiC: Two by One equals Two
Living in Cinema’s anniversary kind of snuck up on me this year and I debated whether or not to make a note of it. Noted or not, here we are at two years old and no one is more surprised by that than me.
Once again I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who make LiC a fun place for me to be, day in and day out. Whether you’re a regular commenter, a quiet lurker or an occasional visitor, this doesn’t happen without you because I’m not quite crazy enough to start talking to myself in public. Thank you all for your time, attention and participation.
If year number one was all about getting people’s attention, year number two was more of a behind-the-scenes growth year as I tried to take best advantage of new opportunities and to also figure out how to juggle life and blog in a way that neither suffered too terribly by the other.
For year number three, I hope to continue to seek out new opportunities for screenings and film festivals and also to make a renewed effort at doing interviews. It’s harder than I thought it would be and I’m not a big fan of sucking in public so my initial enthusiasm for it has cooled off a bit. Nevertheless, the only way to get better is to do it so we’ll see how it goes.
Meanwhile, I’d like to focus a little better on the pure joy of watching movies and sharing the experience with a bunch of great people from all over the world. I lost sight of that joy a few times in the past year and without it, this really isn’t worth doing. It’s certainly hard to do it well.
But enough with the self-regarding jibber jabber. Happy Birthday to LiC and if you’re out this weekend, raise a glass to another year at the cinema.

Have a big birthday hug, LiC! You’ve helped make the last couple of years much richer for me, that’s for sure. I can’t wait for what Year Three has in store for us.
But oy, first we’ve got to get past the Terrible Twos: LiC running around in diapers and clambering on the furniture as a destructive force of nature…until you smile at us again, and we melt.
