Dom DeLuise, Actor/Comedian: 1933 – 2009

Dom DeLuise made me laugh and there are few finer things a man can do in my book.

According to the AP (via Variety), Mr. DeLuise passed away Monday night after a long illness. He was 75.

  1. :(

He was indeed a funny funny guy. RIP.

  2. My two fondest, well pretty much only, memories of Deluise are him and Burt Reynolds trying to crack each other up on camera in all those Cannonball Run movies and the Deluise in some random commercial for something talking about antipasta. Don’t know why it stuck with me, but it did.

I mention this because I miss the guy, but I’ve never been deeply connected to his career. He was one of those jovial, sweet guys that made a living entertaining people and never seemed to have anything but joy and laughter in his heart.

There aren’t enough of those guys in Hollywood these days. RIP Dom Deluise.

  3. Hadn’t thought a lot about Dom in the last decade or so, but damn when I was a kid he cracked me up. Him and Burt cutting up, it looked like what adults do for fun. Same with Carson.

His laugh still get me going.

  4. I always think of him as the cat in An American Tail. I saw that movie about a hundred times because it was THE video my little brother and sister wanted to watch over and over. His character always made me laugh, even after the eleventy dozenth viewing.

    A sweet, talented guy.
