Trailer: District 9
I wasn’t paying attention when the original version of the trailer for the upcoming sci-fi film District 9 made its way around the Internet and it’s probably a good thing because it had a blurred out face and no subtitles during a key moment. It didn’t have the same impact as this version which has no such limitations.
It looks like Apartheid is back in South Africa, except this time the segregated minority isn’t the human kind:
We’re always on the lookout for smart sci-fi and this just might fit the bill.
The Peter Jackson produced District 9 opens August 14.
Watch the video while you can. The IMDB copy was taken down so TrailerAddict is sure to follow.

Yeah, everyone has been talking about this and for some reason, I kept thinking it was District B13, the Luc Besson action movie that came out a couple years ago.
Anyway, the director is the wunderkind short/commercials director that Jackson tagged to do a live action version of the video game HALO before Microsoft pulled the rug on that project. It will be interesting to see if he can pull this off. It looks fairly ambitious.
I don’t know what I thought this was, but it wasn’t ringing a bell when the trailer was first making the rounds.
There’s a certain little girl look I get sometimes, wide-eyed and closed-smiley and hopeful. I have that one now.
It’s refreshing just to see an alien film that doesn’t seem to involve the FBI or Area 51 in a major way. A non-American film. Yay..
And neither Michael Bay nor Roland Emmerich nor any of the usual suspects had anything to do with it.
Here’s hoping it’s good.
