Trailer B: In the Loop
Here’s the 2nd trailer for In the Loop, a British political satire that’s been on our radar since it got some good reviews at Sundance earlier this year.
Based on the BBC comedy The Thick Of It, the film stars Peter Capaldi, Tom Hollander, James Gandolfini, Mimi Kennedy, David Rasche and Steve Coogan.
Also, Rope of Silicon’s Brad Brevet (who loved the film) points us to a funny and foul-mouthed clip of Peter Capaldi in action. Check it out after the jump.
In the Loop opens in the US on July 24.

I’ve been looking forward to this film for a while now.
I don’t know about the extremely overt Kubrick/Dr. Strangelove homage in this clip, but everyone keeps using Strangelove as a point of comparison so I guess it’s appropriate for them to liberally apply it to the marketing.
Anyway, this new trailer is way better than the original. I’m more on board now that I was a couple months ago.
Yeah, the first trailer didn’t inspire much confidence.
Strangelove seems like shorthand for War/Satire from people who don’t actually know what they’re talking about. They’re paying homage to the Strangelove marketing with the Loop marketing, but the capaldi clip is purely it’s own thing.
I speak without having seen the movie, but I get twitchy when people start throwing around Kubrick references.
