First Showing has a clean, Entertainment Tonightless version of the teaser trailer for Toy Story 3 for those of you who just can’t wait to see it before Up this weekend. Check it out in HD if you’d rather: 480, 720, 1080

This was pretty clearly designed to take semi-subtle advantage of 3D and that’s mostly lost here, but does the teaser do the job? Are you teased? Are you excited for Toy Story 3?

I’ve got to say I prefer it when Pixar strikes out in original directions. Leave the sequels to DreamWorks.

Still, I’ll be there opening day on June 18, 2010.

  1. I remembered thinking Toy Story 2 was an awful idea at the time, now I consider it one of the best of the Pixar movies. So this time I’ll just wait and see.

  2. Neither of the Toy Story movies are favorites of mine so maybe that colors my lack of enthusiasm for #3. I’ll grant you that 2 was a perfect sequel in that it actually expanded on and improved the original without just being a hack job though.

  3. That’s a pretty great teaser. Pixar are the only folks I’d trust to make a decent sequel at this point and although the Toy Story movies aren’t my favorites, both are very good. Mark me down for a reserved ticket.

  4. I like how it’s completely in the Toy Story spirit with all the characters, yet it doesn’t actually ruin any of the movie.

That’s how you do a teaser.

  5. Yep, it’s rare that anyone gets these things right. Teasers are typically just the logo, some music, and a release date which is really kinda pointless. Here they’ve got the logo…but they made it fun.

  6. Yes, that’s how you do a teaser. Charm a-plenty. Which is what you go to Toy Story movies to see, anyway. Plot’s not the driving thing here. They aren’t my favorite, but I didn’t realize how fond I was of these characters till I saw them again.

    I heart Pixar.

Kind of excited about the 3D, too.
