  1. HA! Hillarious. That made my morning. (giggle)

    Happy 40J to all y’all:

  2. I’ve actually toyed with the idea of writing a review for the 70’s film musical 1776, which I’ve always loved (and faced quite a bit of criticism for as well!) warts and all. While some of the songs are downright silly, there are a few diamonds in the rough, and the dramatic signing by all of that famous document (what’s it called?) always delivers the goods. I’d be much interested in knowing what LIC’s proprietor thinks of that film.

  3. That is great! Heh heh, I love the leaping shot to sign the Declaration.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY ‘MERICA!

  4. Happy B-Day America! Yay.

BTW, saw “PE” at a late show. I thought it was excellent. Depp was magnificent, and Bale didn’t get on my nerves. Good on Marion for making the most out of an underwritten character and . . . I never thought I’d say this: Billy Curdrup was fantastic! The shaky camera got to be a bit too much at times, especially during the first few scenes, but I enjoyed the digital texture more than I thought I would — it gave the film an effortless docu feel.

The soundtrack though . . . God, was it ever awful. Too many crescendos, too much signaling. It almost ruined the film for me, to be honest.

Regardless of its faults, I think it can take a rightful place close to “Bonnie and Clyde.” I hope to have more coherent thoughts tomorrow or Monday at the Watercooler, but boy, pretty awesome show overall.

*Another great plus: getting to see Clark Gable on the big screen like that!

  5. Happy 4th to all of you wonderful people.

  6. It pains me to say this Dorothy: I liked PE ok but I wouldn’t let it within 10 miles of Bonnie and Clyde. BaC was ABOUT something…PE felt pretty empty to me. Nice looking, but shallow.

Sam, would you believe I’ve never seen 1776??

  7. Oh, yeah…

Happy Fourth Of July weekend to everybody here that I adore.

Hope it’s sunny and gorgeous wherever you are and that you’re taking FULL advantage.
