Slightly more fantastic ‘Mr. Fox’
After the jump so you don’t have to see them if you don’t want to, we’ve got a couple of better images from Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox. One is the same as the previous image but higher res and less cropped.
All I can say is that Wes Anderson meets stop-motion animation was a great idea. He’s already a very precise and detailed creator of worlds, plus all of his movies already have a childlike quality to them. I’m a little bummed Mark Mothersbaugh isn’t doing the music, but it’s hard to argue with Alexandre Desplat (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Lust Caution).

Even creepier than before.
hahaha…I bet they’re 42% less creepy if they were in motion.
Don’t they remind you at all of those old Rankin-Bass holiday shows? Goddamn I loved those when I was a kid.
It’s a creepy animated fox with hollow eyes wearing khaki slacks posing in front of a portrait of badger soldiers. Definitely not reminiscent of any holiday shows I’ve seen.
Nestor the Long Eared Christmas Donkey was pretty goddamn weird.

(“What? You never knew Santa had a donkey??? Why, sure!”)
Nester the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey
Now that’s a title!
Oh my god, you pulled that little piece of holiday evil right out of your behind. I forgot all about Nestor, but I’m sad to say I’ve seen it.
These are strikingly creepy stills but it definitely looks pretty old-school. We’ll see how it pans out. Hopefully it will be less disturbing than The Thunderbirds movies.
It’s sad really the little bits of my damaged childhood I still carry around with me like old worn out toys…
It’s hard to argue with Alexandre Desplat indeed Craig!
For me it’s him and Clint Mansell at the top now.
