Fantastic Mr Fox
“And so it begins.”

Yahoo has the first trailer for Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox based on Roald Dahl’s classic story and you can stream it after the jump.

I can already imagine the bloggery head-scratching over the anachronistic, lo-fi animation  and I wouldn’t be surprised if the studio pinheads at 20th Century Fox are currently crapping their finely tailored suits, but I warmed up to it quickly. I like it. I can’t wait.

Are they going with The Fantastic Mr. Fox now? Whatever. Call it Rock-A-Doodle and I’m still going to see it.

(The) Fantastic Mr. Fox featuring the voice talents of George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman will make it’s world premiere as the opening night film of the BFI London Film Festival on October 14th and it will hit US theaters on November 13th.

  1. I love the look of this film, but was always going to given it’s a Wes Anderson.

The only thing I found a teeny bit off-putting was Clooney’s voice. I like animation voices to be less recognizable. I want to see Mr Fox in my head, not George playing one of his suave and a little kooky roles. But I suspect that in the context of the whole film the character will come to the fore. The trailer has definitely piqued my interest.

  2. I love how it’s so clearly a Wes Anderson movie even in animation.

Clooney’s voice didn’t bug me. Willem Dafoe came off the best, but I liked how they were all kind of dialed back and casual, not exaggerating for the microphone.

We’ll see how it plays out though.
