Clips of fatherless children who are not ‘glourious’

Melanie Laurent in Inglourious Basterds
I’ve grown weary of showing clips of movies before they come out, but I’ve been riding Inglourious Basterds pretty hard and you might be interested in a little more juice so… here apparently is a link to nine clips over at IESB. Don’t know what they entail because I refuse to watch them, but enjoy ‘em if you want ‘em.

Oh, my good God. This looks incredible.
I’ve seen some of these clips before. But that doesn’t dampen my ardour in the slightest.
Christoph Waltz seems to be as awesome as advertised. You can’t even recognize Mike Myers. But as soon as he started speaking I could tell it was him. IMMEDIATELY. His English accent (which is very good BTW) gives him away entirely. Melanie Laurent seems like she might be a fresh surprise.
Craig, I meant to tell you this. But I don’t think I ever got around to it.
There was an EXCELLENT interview with Quentin in some guys’ magazine (GQ, DETAILS, one of those – I can’t remember off hand) where you get to see a glimpse of the man that you normally don’t run across if you’re not actively involved in the industry.
Plus (and I didn’t hear this anywhere else) IG apparently got an 11 minute standing ovation at Cannes.
11 MINUTES…
I don’t want the summer to roll on quickly. But I am still madly looking forward to this…
I read one in GQ online Miranda, was that it?
Craig, I think we ran across the same interview on line.
It’s from GQ and it’s entitled TRIUMPH OF HIS WILL.
The writer met Quentin at Hamburger Hamlet on Sunset and the first server admired his work and was rather flirty with him. She sang in a band at a club near HH (or something similar) and invited him to drop by later.
Then a different server gave him his bill for the night and he was rather testy with her. Mainly because they supposedly had a preordained thing where she would come in at 10:30 precisely, present him the evidence of what he owed and then tell him the time. At that point, he was going to get the hell out of there.
But instead of telling him the time, she came over to the table and simply said, “Will there be anything else?” He forgot to ask her what time it was and consequently talked to the writer for a much longer period than he’d counted on.
Then when the writer contacted Quentin to get a follow up chat, he was basically told that that wasn’t going to happen.
Was that the same interview you read?
I thought it was one of the best in depth pieces I’ve read about Quentin (or practically anyone else in the industry) for a very long time.
Ha ha. Unfortunately, I guess it was because he talked longer than he intended to and maybe let his guard down a bit.
Still, he’s always struck me as an interesting guy…
You know, I might not have read the whole thing. I keyed in on some comments he made about the phony rumor the studio was making him cut 40 minutes out of Basterds.
I didn’t read the rest because I was in IB hype/spoiler avoidance mode.
