Trailer: The Wolfman

Emily Blunt in The Wolfman
Thanks to Ryan at AD for reminding me there’s more than one trailer in town this morning.
If not for the cast that includes Benicio Del Toro, Emily Blunt and Anthony Hopkins, I wouldn’t be too interested in Universal raiding their archives once again, but this trailer for The Wolfman looks a lot more interesting than Avatar.
Is it lowered expectations?
The Wolfman opens February 12, 2010.

I can’t watch any of these trailers until after work, but I’m interested to see how Wolfman shapes up. I read the Andrew Walker script back when it was in Romenek’s hands, and if I recall, it was a pretty strong (and NC-17 level gory). I’m indifferent to Johnston (and to Romenek really) but Del Toro as Wolfman is so rich in possibility.
I was neither really for or against this one…wasn’t thinking too much about it at all, but the trailer did its job.
Here’s hoping they were able to fix the effects that were rumored to be dicey.
Could go either way, but I like what I’m seeing in this trailer. I was fairly negative on this one before today though, so my low expectations are probably contributing to my positive take on this.
I’ve watched it, and am less interested. Looks like every other movie. .
Chuck, is that because the footage is like every other movie or this trailer is a cookie cutter version of every other horror trailer you’ve ever seen? I’m not sure which, honestly.
I think it looks fun! Very atmospheric in a Bram Stoker’s Dracula kind of way. I eat that stuff up when it’s well made.
And Benicio del Sexy is one very well-made man. :)
Jennybee, it got me thinking of Bram Stoker’s Dracula too. But I fear it will turn out to be a poor person’s version. The casting is impressive and it seems very earnest but I’m skeptical that Johnston can artistically elevate the film above more routine genre fare.
Yeah, I think it looks like goofy fun. My expectations of it were zero to begin with. I like the look and the cast.
