Have we been spared another attempt at ‘Dune’?
I’m only passing this along as a follow up to the original bit I ran back in March when Peter Berg was first attached to Frank Herbert’s Dune.
This morning, Cinematical pointed us to a claim over at some place called Pajiba that Peter Berg will no longer be directing the film. Without offering any new information, CHUD’s Devin Faraci says his sources confirm the rumor. What hasn’t been confirmed is Pajiba’s claim that Neil Marshall (The Descent) and sci-fi “It Boy” Neill Blomkamp (District 9) are being eyed as potential replacements. Whatever.
I suppose it’s just too much to ask that this project die a slow quiet death.

Ask? How about pray?
(Though if it HAS to be done, better Blomkamp than Berg.)
In the meantime, I hope that some day Lynch gets over his aversion to revisiting the trauma and puts together a definitive director’s cut DVD.
Have we been spared another attempt at ‘Dune’?
One can only hope.
The only reason I even went to see it years ago was because Sting was in it.
