Edward Woodward, Actor: 1930 – 2009

I never watched TV’s The Equalizer for which Edward Woodward was probably best known in this country among my generation and younger, but LiC marks his passing by remembering Breaker Morant and the original (non comedy) version of The Wicker Man.

Mr. Woodward died Monday at the age of 79. May he rest in peace.

  1. RIP, Mr Woodward. I came to know him through The Equalizer, which wasn’t necessarily the greatest TV series ever but he was more than adequate to the task of being an updated law and order version of Jack Carter. He was also awesome in Hot Fuzz.

I didn’t get to The Wicker Man until this decade, but he was ably suited to it. Still haven’t seen Breaker Morant.

  2. I realize he was 79. But I’m still rather shocked by this.

    He was a wonderful actor.

    RIP, Mr. Woodward.

  3. Hear ye the words of the Lord! Awake ye heathens, and howl!

    RIP

  4. His greatest performance (and most renowned) was the one he gave in THE WICKER MAN.

    A loss for sure.
