For Your Consideration: Peter Capaldi, Best Actor

Awards Daily’s Sasha Stone reminds us of the funniest movie of the year. A Best Picture nod is hopeless, but Peter Capaldi is most deserving of an acting nomination.

Forget about the toothless (no pun intended…well ok, maybe a little) The Hangover. Don’t bother me with The Proposal or Couples Retreat. This movie is funny as hell and it stings like piss in your eye.

Fuckity bye!

  1. This movie was excellent. One of my favorites of the year, actually.

  2. I amost forgot about it because I saw it at LAFF and didn’t write an “official” review. I’m glad Sasha reminded me.

  3. Me too. It’s great to watch parts of it again.

Such a quick and witty and scathingly funny movie.

  4. I swear I missed half the lines from laughing at the ones that came before.

  5. Yeah, it’s definitely a movie that has to be watched at least twice (but more like several times) to get everything you missed.

  6. I need to see this again with subtitles on so I can catch the dialogue I missed the first time, partly because I’m lousy with British accents and partly because I was laughing too hard.

I forgot about this one, but it add to my short list of best of the year.

  7. Has anyone seen the BBC show? I know Sartre has.

  8. Sartre repeatedly raises hand like a class know-it-all until he reads the second sentence and dejectedly slumps away.

  9. sorry to steal your gleeful thunder, boy-o. It would appear the show is not even available on a US friendly DVD. Though I think you can get much if not all of it in dubious form on the YouTubes.

  10. I wish the film would come out on DVD. I’m tired of being out of the loop.

  11. I want to see it again, but it’s not due until next year and the UK version isn’t region free. Stupid DVD lockouts.
