‘Anvil!’ owns the IDA Documentary Awards
Oscar doc short-list snubee Anvil! The Story of Anvil beat out Afghan Star, Diary of a Times Square Thief, Food Inc., and Mugabe and the White African for the top prize at the International Documentary Association’s 2009 IDA Documentary Awards held tonight at the DGA in Los Angeles. It also beat It Might Get Loud for the Music Documentary Award.
Meanwhile, The Final Inch beat critical favorites and Oscar short-listees Food, Inc. and The Cove for the Pare Lorentz Award, while Garbage Dreams was given the Humanitas Award.
Last year’s Documentary Feature Award was split between James Marsh’s Man on Wire and Ari Folman’s Waltz With Bashir.
