Poster: Inception
First Showing spills the beans on a new viral game for Christopher Nolan’s Inception. You might remember the teaser trailer/freak out I posted back in August.
The fun begins here, but if you don’t have the patience or desire to screw around you can click the image above for the reward which is the first poster for the film. It looks like there will more to come for those of you who are into this kind of thing so keep checking in with the official website.
Inception starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, Michael Caine, Cillian Murphy and Joseph Gordon-Levitt opens July 16, 2010.

Happy anticipation. Yay. :)
All the blue in the poster and a lone male figure among skyscrapers reminds me of The Dark Knight aesthetic.

Very nice. Yes, the comparison between the two posters is somewhat striking, isn’t it? One has to wonder if Nolan is aware of that or if the marketing at this point is being handled by lesser entities at the studio. These folks cannibalize successful posters so often it’s hard to say and the suits love formulas that work.
I’m hoping this viral campaign should be interesting. The campaign behind The Dark Knight was one of the few that was consistently imaginative, original, and fun to pay attention to.
Wow, nice catch Craig. I hadn’t appreciated there was a near identical poster from the earlier film. Joel, I’m sure you’re right about this deliberate plagiarism being the work of studio marketing bottom feeders.
Seems like an effort to ride TDK’s coat tails to the bank.
I would love to take credit for being a smarty pants, but the comparisons were all over the internet even as I made the original post.
Had they not been, I probably wouldn’t have even noticed a vague TDKishness as Sartre did on his own.
