10 months ago, CHUD’s Devin Faraci reported on Bobcat Goldthwait’s plans to turn The Kinks’ album Schoolboys In Disgrace into a musical. Apparently it wasn’t just wishful thinking on the part of Mr. Goldthwait either as THR reports today that the team behind Last Chance Harvey and Goldthwait’s World’s Greatest Dad will be producing and The Kinks’ own Ray Davies will be an executive producer.

The film will follow the album’s loose story (it’s really more a series of vignettes) of a schoolyard bad boy who is humiliated by the headmaster and grows up to be an evil super villain named Mr. Flash. The album’s songs will be re-recorded by the film’s cast.

  1. The Kinks rule. Can’t say yet if this project does. Davies’ involvement sounds promising.

  2. It’s not their most beloved album. Recorded during a difficult period for the band. But it’s the Kinks.
