Ready for one more trailer? Hot on the heels of news that Blue Valentine starring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams has been tagged with an inexplicable NC-17 rating by the MPAA, Yahoo debuts the trailer.

I’ve had my eye this little break up drama since it debuted at Sundance and we’ll all get to have a look on December 31.

  1. While the trailer makes me want to see this even more, that NC-17 rating more or less means I’ll have to wait for the Blu-ray. Damn it all.

  2. On one hand I’d expect them to trim it to get an R, but from what I’ve heard it doesn’t sound easily trimmable. NC-17 would potentially be the kiss of death for a little film like this… on the other hand maybe it will get it some more attention

  3. I don’t think Blue Valentine was ever going to be a box office champ, so maybe the NC-17 label didn’t hurt it much. It might even attract a few porn hounds for the oral sex scene I read is the cause for the rating.

Although I like Gosling and Williams well enough, this kind of hipster-oriented relationship drama isn’t really my thing. Despite the good buzz and a well-edited trailer, I’m not all that interested.

  4. One of the side benefits of not being married is not having to endure crumbling marriages so, yeah, 90-120 mins of that doesn’t sound like a ride I necessarily want to take, but I hear the performances are great so that’s enough to make me interested.
