Listen to this for an idea of how Hoover sounded and decide for yourself how well DiCaprio does.

  1. I’m sorry if I appear unnecessarily negative but this talking heads trailer makes the film look as dull as dishwater to me. I’m biased though, being no fan of the conventional biopic genre and having little interest in Hoover as a person.

  2. this is one awful trailer. maybe the film is great, but they certainly do everything they can to make this movie seem like every other biopic ever made.

  3. Hoover makes for a potentially fascinating character. but I fully agree this isn’t exactly the most motivating of trailers. The Di Caprio-Eastwood collaboration of course will have many on board. I’m a skeptic as to its prospects, but I guess the proof will be in the pudding.

  4. Well, it’s a Clint Eastwood-directed movie. In other words, I’m skipping it.

  5. DiCaprio acting under Eastwood sounds particularly unappetizing to me. Both are talented, but both have been huffing and puffing in the name of Important Cinema, often at the expense of common sense, for far too long.

  6. Yeah, I agree Chuck.

  7. The subject is ripe for drama, but…. yeah. I’m not buying this either.

I like both Eastwood and DiCaprio, but together they both may play into each other’s worst instincts. The trailer appears to bear that out.
