I loved Andrea Arnold’s Fish Tank so her spin on Emily Bronte’s beloved novel was one of the films out of Venice and Toronto I was most curious to hear about. Check out the UK trailer above (via The Guardian) and a roundup of critical reactions here. Wuthering Heights opens in the UK on November 11. It has been picked up for distribution in the US by Oscilloscope which plans to release it sometime in 2012.

  1. I must say Craig that I am quaking in my boots over this one. I also loved Arnold’s FISH TANK, and am always game for another take on this ravishing story.

  2. Reviews seemed pretty widely positive, if not always ecstatic.

Your pal Mr. Fish will get a chance to see it before we will though it sounds like.

  3. That he will and he’ll be gloating aplenty! Ha!

  4. I’m a big Fish Tank fan too. Looking at the trailer I couldn’t help but think there was some similarity in visual style to Jane Campion (and maybe a touch of Audiard).

  5. Sartre, there’s something else there too that I can’t quite put my finger on. Is it Malick?
