Alien (1979) directed by Ridley Scott
Ian Holm as Ash, Veronica Cartwright as Lambert (not pictured)

Ash: You still don’t understand what you’re dealing with, do you? A perfect organism. Its structural perfection is matched only by its hostility.
Lambert: You admire it.
Ash: I admire its purity. A survivor… unclouded by conscience, remorse or delusions of morality.

  1. “Its structural perfection is matched only by its hostility.”

    I’ve known people like that.

    Great film.

  2. Great exchange for a seminal horror film, that deserves a place in the series. I’d say it’s 50-50 among genre fans whether this film or the succedding ALIENS was greater.

    I’ll take the Fifth.

  3. Better structurally imperfect and hostile, no?

I’ll cop out on that argument Sam and just say they’re two very different films working from the same raw material.

I’d say the first is more of a straight up horror film while Cameron’s vision (particularly the original theatrical cut) is just one of the best balls to the wall action pictures.

I’d not want to give up either one in a desert island situation.
