Jaws (1975) directed by Steven Spielberg
Lee Fierro as Mrs. Kintner, Roy Scheider as Chief Martin Brody, Murray Hamilton as Mayor Vaughn (not pictured)

Mrs. Kintner: I just found out… that a girl got killed here last week… and you knew it. You knew there was a shark out there. You knew it was dangerous, but you let people go swimming anyway. You knew all those things… but still my boy is dead now… and there’s nothing you can do about it. My boy is dead. I wanted you to know that.
Mayor Vaughn: I’m sorry, Martin. She’s wrong.
Martin Brody: No she’s not.

  1. She was so great in just that one scene.

  2. This is another movie with a ton of lines I could’ve used, but again I think this one captures something about the movie.

  3. Absolutely. And I’m glad you chose this rather than going with a more obvious quote like “I think we’re going to need a bigger boat”, which is of course so memorable and effective in the movie but has been done to death.

  4. Yeah that’s the fine line with these things. Recognizable but not beaten into the ground. On the other hand, sometimes a line is so classic you can’t not go with it.

I have to say, these have been fun to do. If for not other reason than as an excuse to rewatch old favorite movies.
